David J. ElkanichDavid Elkanich

A lawyer and a dad in Portland, Oregon, David emphasizes his practice on risk management, professional responsibility and legal ethics. In a nutshell, David advises lawyers, law firms and corporate legal departments how to be proactive with respect to their ethical obligations and how to be reactive in responding to disciplinary matters.

David spent his formative years growing up in Arizona where he watched a lot of college basketball. After graduating from the University of Arizona (B.A. 1996) with a double major in English, he fled to cooler weather, forests and the Willamette Valley. After law school at the University of Oregon (J.D. 1999), David moved to Portland where has has been ever since. Today, you’re likely to find him spending his free time with his son. When he can, David enjoys reading, seeing friends, playing with gadgets, shooting pool, and watching the Blazers.

David A. SorensenDavid Sorensen

The second “David” on the team, Dave Sorensen, is a Chicago-based trial lawyer with a multi-state practice. He balances his practice between representing legal, medical, and corporate professionals and manufacturers with counseling attorneys in matters of risk management, professional responsibility, and legal ethics.

Having first-chaired over twenty jury trials, Dave brings courtroom experience into the conference room to counsel lawyers, law firms, and corporate legal departments on how to avoid malpractice claims and disciplinary complaints, as well as how to respond should they become targets in such cases.

A Chicago native and University of Michigan undergrad, Dave looks for a chance to detour to Ann Arbor whenever possible to catch a game and a meal at Zingerman’s, “the best deli in the world.” In Chicago, he can be found cheering the White Sox, braving the summer heat at Lollapalooza, searching the neighborhoods for the city’s best burger, or relaxing with a book from his “must read” list.

David S.’s contact info: 312-704-3584 or dsorensen@hinshawlaw.com.
